From 8–12 June 2026, Budapest hosted the international conference Defects in Solids for Quantum Technologies (DSQT 2026) at the Faculty of Science of Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE). The conference brought together leading theorists and experimentalists from around the world to discuss the latest advances in solid-state qubits, quantum emitters, quantum sensing, and materials for next-generation quantum technologies. The event also placed a strong emphasis on fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and supporting the development of young researchers.
Members of the QRC-4-ESP consortium made valuable contributions to the scientific programme through both oral and poster presentations.
🎤 Oral presentation “Telecom-band quantum emitters in silicon carbide”, Danial Shafizadeh, Misagh Ghezellou, Viktor M. Bobal, Lasse Vines, Jawad Ul-Hassan, Valdas Jokubavicius, Nguyen T. Son, and Ivan G. Ivanov.
🖼️ Poster presentation “Spin-dependent optical activity of the telecom range ClV center in SiC: a wavefunction theory analysis”, Oscar Bulancea Lindvall, Viktor Ivády, and Igor Abrikosov.
These contributions highlight the QRC-4-ESP project's cutting-edge research on silicon carbide defect centres and their potential applications in quantum communication and quantum information technologies. The conference provided an excellent opportunity for QRC-4-ESP researchers to disseminate their results, exchange ideas with international experts, and strengthen collaborations across the rapidly evolving quantum technology landscape. 🚀🌍
