Loughborough University Physics Department are extremely pleased to announce the recent recruitment of Dr. Gerard McCaul to work on the QRC-4-ESP project. Gerard is a British theoretical physicist who completed his PhD in 2019, studying path integral representations of open systems at King's College London. Following this, he was a WM Keck postdoctoral fellow at Tulane university, where his research interests extended to include non-linear optics, quantum control, and their application to technologies such as computing. In this regard, the paradigm of quantum reservoir computing is a natural extension and application of his previous work. In his spare time, Gerard claims to be a mediocre writer and a positively dreadful guitarist. But the QRC-4-ESP project jury remains out on these last two points! At the very least, we hope to hear some guitar licks at the next consortium meeting in Montpellier!
