New book on Quantum Engineering from QRC-4-ESP Principal Investigator Alexandre Zagoskin

We are pleased to highlight the publication of the second edition of Quantum Engineering: Theory and Design of Quantum Coherent Structures by Dr. Alexandre M. Zagoskin, Principal Investigator in the Horizon Europe QRC-4-ESP project and Reader in Physics at Loughborough University.
Published by Cambridge University Press in 2026, this substantially updated and expanded edition reflects the remarkable advances in quantum technologies since the first edition appeared in 2011.
⚛️ The book provides a comprehensive introduction to the theory, design, fabrication and applications of quantum coherent solid-state structures, covering topics including superconducting quantum circuits, microscopic and defect-based qubits, quantum transport, noise and decoherence, and quantum measurement.
💡 Particularly relevant to QRC-4-ESP, the new edition incorporates recent developments in quantum hardware and includes quantum reservoir computing alongside quantum metamaterials and other emerging applications of quantum technologies.
The book is aimed primarily at graduate students in physics, while also providing a valuable resource for engineers and researchers working at the rapidly developing interface between quantum physics and engineering.
